In this episode the Sanbi also is captured by Akatsuki. So, we *did* get the happy ending for Guren and Yuukimaru! Guren has left the necklace she got from Yuukimaru behind. Later, we do see some 'happy family' moments, also vague, before Naruto enters Konoha. I had to look carefully, because I was wondering if Gozu also was there. Naruto suddenly spots three figures in the distance In the morning, when the Konoha shinobi have decided not to go after the kid, which Naruto is totally at peace with, they all leave.

He's unable to find Yuukimaru, but he does find Yuukimaru's undamaged camellia crystal hidden in a shrub. Yuukimaru runs away in the middle of the night and Naruto, when he finds out his little protege is missing, runs after him. In their head we hear a conversation in which Gozu confesses his admiration for Guren since once she gave him water after he was punished at Orochimaru's. Meanwhile in the lake, where the coffin-like crystal with the bodies of Guren and Rinji lies. In episode 112 we see the crystal again and it's not broken at all, merely scratched. He was unconscious when Naruto picked him up and brought him to the Konoha shinobi shelter.ĭespite that the camellia in the crystal was intact, I had no hope for Guren. I feared for her life, and Yuukimaru went into a rage, calling the Sanbi. She's sacrificing herself for the kid's sake. She decided to wrap him up, with herself, in a crystal to protect Yuukimaru. Kabuto pulled an unexpected rabbit out of his hat the zombie-like former fellow subordinate of Guren, Rinji. Last week we had episode 111, in which Guren had to fight Kabuto in order to protect Yuukimaru.

It now is twenty-three episodes later (if I count correctly) and it was one of the longest filler arcs I've ever seen. It all started at the end of December last year, when in episode 90 we were introduced to the 'filler kid' whom I even mistook for a girl :) With mixed feelings I have to announce that the story arc about Yuukimaru, Guren, and the Sanbi has ended.
